Direct from the Winery

Best New Winery Direct Site

www.wineconfidential.com

This is the address of an organization representing several small wineries who have banded together to market direct to consumers.

Most of the wineries are from Napa and are high-end brands.

The core wineries are these:

Blackbird Vineyards
Smith-Madrone
Juslyn
Hunnicutt
Switchback Ridge

These are real wineries that can be visited. Blackbird has a tasting room in Yountville. Most are making high-end Cabernets, and both Juslyn and Switchback Ridge are  enjoying cult-like status.

But this site also offers a wine or two from Bacio Divino, one of my favorites, as well as a quality winery from Argentina: Recuerdo.

That winery's newest Malbec, the 2013,  is being offered direct this week for $16 a bottle, with free shipping on 4 or more bottles. That's a good deal for Malbec fans.

Check out the site and if interested, you can subscribe to get updates on the offers.

Terre Rouge and Easton Wines
Website: www.terrerougewines.com

Here’s a long-time favorite winery that periodically offers super web deals. It pretty much conforms to everyone’s image of a mom & pop, small production, artisan winery that enjoys a loyal following.

Wines from Rhone varieties are labeled Terre Rouge and various Zinfandels are marketed as Easton Wines, named after proprietor, Bill Eason.

Around Memorial Day weekend, it had two deals on the table.

The first was a 4-bottle showcase of Easton Zinfandel  from Amador County for $115 with shipping included. These Zins will be featured at the annual ZAP tasting.
The ZAP 4 pack includes one bottle each of:

2013 EASTON Zinfandel, Amador County
2011 EASTON Zinfandel, Rinaldi Vineyard, Fiddletown
2010 EASTON Zinfandel, Estate, Shenandoah Valley
2009 EASTON Obscura, Late Harvest, Rinaldi Vineyard, Fiddletown.

Mix up a case and also get our 15% case discount.”
This offer is good only on the website.
Terre Rouge is noted for its Syrah and Rhone blends.

I’d strongly recommend these wines:

2013 Terre Rouge Garrigue, a blend of Syrah and Cabernet for $20 before discount.

2015 Vin Gris d”Amador, a lively blend of Rhone varieties and a great summer sipper. Not yet released.

2010  Terre Rouge Grenache “Autre,” which is a Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre blend that comes across like a lovely  Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Full price: $30
